How to make a christmas card using canva

Hi everyone! Brelliane's here! Sending Christmas cards is still a holiday tradition that so many people love. It's a great way to connect with one another. Fortunately things have changed over the past few years. With 2021 being so digital and virtual, you can even send e-card for your friends and family. 

There are tons of places online where you can create your own card but Canva is one of my favorites. So today I'm going to talk about how to create your own Christmas card on Canva for free. 

Canva is a free graphic design program where you can make a bunch of different things such as banners, posters, cards, etc. What's great about Canva is that it is completely free and easy to use.

There are two types of Canva-one is a Canva free account and another one a pro account. First and foremost, if you are a student or someone running some sort of non-profit then Canva is free. The major difference with Canva pro accounts is the availability of the templates and the images stock that are included. The other benefit from Canva pro is that you can save your design as a template so that you can share it with other team members to edit it.

1) Okay first thing first, if you don't have Canva, you can either download the app on your smartphone or simply search Canva.com and sign up for a free account.  

2) Once you sign up you'll be presented with the Canva homepage. Getting around the homepage it is quite simple to understand. You've got a search bar where you can search whatever you're looking for. There are bars categorized by social media, personal business, etc. 

3) Next, you need to actually search for what you're going to create. Because today we're talking about creating a Christmas card then simply entering the Christmas card and it'll bring up all Christmas card templates. Scrolling down you will see some of the templates they provide. 

4) When you finally find the template you want, just click on it and then it will bring you to the workspace. Now we can edit it and customize the default templates. 

5) In order to change the text, let's ungroup the block by clicking the button on the page menu. Now you'll be able to delete text boxes you don't want to use. Change the text inside the boxes by clicking and then entering what you want.

5) Whenever you have finished designing your card, click on the download option or the down facing arrow and click download. You can save your work in different formats namely jpg, png and pdf but I suggested using pdf form to have a high quality result.

And here's my final result! I am personally satisfied with the result. The design looks amazing and professional even though I didn't give extra effort to it. Now that I see the benefit from Canva is in its templates where it's pre-designed for you so that you don't have to be creative or artistic yourself. But it is pre-designed for you and it's already sized for you so all you need to do is to choose from one of the templates and edit it. Some people might think it tends to drive us to not be creative but actually this helps us because we don't have to spend much time getting a high quality project. 

All in all, Canva is worth every template if you design for a regular basis and especially if you run a business or you're in some sort of creative field and you need some more powerful features that Canva offers.
